Our Principal

Greetings, Knights!
My name is Ryan Stokes, and I am honored to introduce myself as your new principal. It is with great enthusiasm that I return to Avalon Middle School, a place that has always held a special place in my heart.

I am a proud product of the Santa Rosa County School District, having pursued my education locally at Pensacola Junior College, the University of Florida (Milton Campus), and the University of West Florida. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Natural Resource Conservation and a Master's in Educational Leadership.

With more than 20 years of experience in education, I have had the privilege of serving in various capacities. I started my career as a classroom teacher, imparting knowledge in middle and high school math and science. My journey then led me to Avalon Middle as the dean of students, and subsequently, to Sims Middle, where I dedicated 11 years as an assistant principal.

Returning to Avalon Middle as principal feels like coming home. I am excited to bring my experiences and passion for education back to this wonderful community. Together with our dedicated staff, we will strive to create an environment where every student can thrive and reach their fullest potential.

On a personal note, I am married to Cynthia Stokes, who is also an educator in Santa Rosa. We are blessed with three beautiful children, all of whom are proud products of Santa Rosa County schools.

Thank you for welcoming me back to Avalon Middle. I look forward to working with you all to continue our tradition of excellence.
Warm regards,
Ryan Stokes Principal Avalon Middle School
