Good evening, Avalon Parents & Guardians.
It is time to Show What We Know & Prove What We Can Do! FAST Testing starts tomorrow with our 6th graders. I will include the upcoming assessment schedule below so you know what days your child takes certain exams. On the days your child tests, we challenge our students to wear their hallway colors. We challenge our Sixth Graders to wear green, our Seventh Graders to wear blue and our Eighth Graders to wear red on the days they take FAST or EOCs. At the end of these few days of testing, the winning grade level (grade level with the highest percentage participation) will be awarded.

• Friday, May 1 6th ELA FAST
• Monday, May 4 6th Math FAST
• Tuesday, May 5 7th ELA FAST
• Wednesday, May 6 7th Math FAST
• Thursday, May 7 Civics
• Friday, May 8 8th Math FAST, Alg & Geo EOCs
• Monday, May 11 8th Science
• Tuesday, May 12 8th ELA FAST
In addition to these days, the following are Semester Exam days. All Semester Exam Days are Early Release.

As always, please help us ensure your child receives a good night’s rest on the evening prior to testing as well as a healthy breakfast the morning of. Our children have worked very hard this year, and I know they will achieve great things.

April is Month of the Military Child. While we always wish to honor those who have served our country in the Armed Services, we also know their families serve alongside them. Military families face an array of challenges and few others experience these challenges throughout their lives. Pace High School SGA is hosting a Spring 5k event on April 12th, from 5-6pm, and they would love if some of our team is able to participate. It will be at the UWF trails, and runners will run the 5k course. The price for our team is a discounted price at $5 per person. All others will pay $10. All proceeds will go to the recipient of the Maggie's Miracles event, which goes to a junior at Pace High School who is currently fighting cancer.

Please stay tuned for several very important announcements concerning activities and events that are coming up soon or changing.
First, tomorrow afternoon/evening’s AMS Luau has been cancelled. There will be no dance after school on Thursday evening.
Second, it is time for our students to SHOW WHAT THEY KNOW! Our 6th graders have their annual Writing Test tomorrow, followed by our 7th graders Writing exam on Monday, 4/6, and our 8th graders taking their Writing exam on Tuesday, 4/7. We are proud of the effort and hard work our students have put into their school year and we have the highest level of pride and optimism in their upcoming performance.
After testing each of the above-mentioned days, our SGA/BETA/Mock Trial/Amazing Shake students will have snow cones for sale. Once all testing is finished and lunches are over, our testing students will be able to purchase snow cones on the 700 hallway.
While the year is quickly winding down, we still have much to do. Please continue to monitor your child’s grades. Please continue to reach out to the school with questions and concerns. Help us prepare your kids to be successful on upcoming assessments by ensuring they get a good night’s rest and breakfast on the mornings of testing.
